I loooooove hot chocolate. I can remember when I was younger it being such a treat for my mom to buy Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa mix from the store. It was even more exciting if they were the ones with the mini marshmallows in the packet! As I got older, I drank hot chocolate less and less (Why? I have no idea!). So, in an effort to make up for lost time, I am drinking All the hot chocolate this fall and winter!
The only difference between then and now is that we're making it from scratch. No more Swiss Miss! Making your own hot chocolate is incredibly easy and the result is nothing short of decadent! You'll only need four ingredients: milk, heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and white chocolate! This recipe can be made in under 15 minutes and can easily be doubled to feed a crowd!
This recipe is perfect for a cold, winter day where all you want to do is stay in and watch Christmas movies (which may or may not have been exactly what I did)!
Let's get cookin!

Recipe Notes:
Milk Alternatives: This hot chocolate can easily be made with milk alternatives to cut back on the dairy. My personal favorites are almond milk or oat milk and they can be switched with normal milk 1:1. There are also heavy cream alternatives (Silk offers one) and dairy free white chocolate options (Nestle offers one).
Chocolate Selection: A higher quality chocolate goes a long way in terms of flavor! I love to use Ghirardelli white chocolate baking squares or chocolate chips. If using the baking squares, be sure to chop them so they melt a bit easier.
Toppings: Whipped cream is always a delicious option! You could also crush up a candy cane and sprinkle it on top or drizzle the top with caramel!
Dulce de Leche White Hot Chocolate: In place of the sweetened condensed milk, pour in half of a 14 oz can of Dulce de Leche. Follow the rest of the recipe as normal.
Pumpkin White Hot Chocolate: Follow the recipe as normal, adding 1/2 of a 15 oz can of pumpkin puree (make sure it doesn't say pumpkin pie filling) and 1/2 Tbsp of pumpkin pie spice after the white chocolate is completely melted. Stir to combine.
I hope you enjoy and have a blessed holiday!
